Wantaway Brazilian under fire after Barcelona transfer saga

The furore surrounding Philippe Coutinho has been questioned – by a former Brazil international who believes the Liverpool playmaker isn’t as good as people think.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request last month in an attempt to force a move to Barcelona, only for the Liverpool to reject three bids from the Catalans.

The Brazilian has yet to feature for the Reds this season due to a back injury, but made a goalscoring return to action from the bench for his country in the 2-0 win over Ecuador last week.

However, the fuss regarding Coutinho has bewildered former Brazil international Neto, who believes Renato Augusto is a better player.

“But Philippe Coutinho is not all that you’re talking about. Calm down, slow down. He is a very good player, only he has not won a World Cup for us. But he is a very good player. I prefer Renato Augusto.”
