BIDA, NIGER STATE — FG Executing 5,500km Road Projects Across Nigeria – Works Minister

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has disclosed that the Federal Government is currently executing over 5,500 kilometers of new and ongoing road projects across the country.
Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction and dualization of the Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Makera-Kontagora Federal Highway in Bida, Niger State, the Minister highlighted that Niger State alone accounts for 1,055 kilometers of these nationwide road projects.
Senator Umahi stressed the current administration's commitment to upgrading road infrastructure across all geopolitical zones in Nigeria, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves another four-year term to complete the extensive projects initiated under his administration.
He described the Niger State highway project as a potential fifth legacy project of the Tinubu administration, citing its massive scale, the use of continuously reinforced concrete pavement, and the strategic involvement of the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme. Senator Umahi further commended President Tinubu for approving projects that significantly improve connectivity between the North-Central region and other parts of the country.
Highlighting regional achievements, the Minister revealed that ongoing infrastructure interventions in the North-Central zone have already delivered 162 kilometers of completed roads and 115 meters of bridges. He also praised the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for his visionary investments in state infrastructure, which include over 300 kilometers of roads, five flyovers, and an underpass.
In his remarks, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that the tangible impact of these projects demonstrates the administration's progress. He noted that the national economy is picking up and that the people of Niger State—having witnessed unprecedented infrastructural development—continue to show strong support for President Tinubu.
Speaking on behalf of the concessionaire, the Special Adviser to the President of the Dangote Group, Engr. Mansur Ahmed, expressed delight in partnering with the Federal Government through the tax credit scheme. He described the highway as a critical economic corridor and confirmed that the road would be built using concrete pavement rather than conventional asphalt. To accelerate delivery, construction work will commence simultaneously across four distinct locations.
Representing President Tinubu at the event, Governor Umar Bago described the highway project as a transformative intervention along a vital transportation corridor connecting communities and driving commerce across Nigeria. He expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu for approving major road projects in the state and pledged Niger State's continued alignment and support for the administration.
